Fun on the Field

The Sequim Lavender Festival is committed to our community and we are very pleased that “Fun on the Field,” has grown this year to include a hometown fair experience featuring than local nonprofit organizations with hands-on activities and demonstration vendors for the entire family to enjoy. The hours are 9A.M. to 7P.M. Friday and Saturday 9A.M. to 6P.M. Sunday. There will be a Stage street performance area, hot dogs and soft drinks for the kids, and crafts booths. We have added additional seating on the beautiful athletic field lawn with umbrella covered tables and chairs. This will give everyone a chance to spread out and enjoy summer at the Lavender Festival. Also on the field the American Red Cross will be operating a first aid station and providing information about their world-wide services, our conveniently located sani-kans (very important!) and more.

The Farms on Tour have always had some great children's activities. Check them out at the Farms on Tour. Children 12 and under are free!

The following are scheduled to perform during the festival on the Fun on the Field Community Stage, sponsored by The Sequim Food Bank. Unless otherwise noted, the stage will be open for local talent as a first-come first-booked venue. See the Boy’s & Girls Club booth for available times.

Puppy Pilots is the local club that raises puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind of San Rafael, CA.

Northaven Herding - Becky Northaven will be demonstrating herding three times a day. Come enjoy the show.

Each day at Noon & 3:00 P.M

U. S. Customs and Border Protection - Rony will demonstration vehicle drug search procedures.

Saturday & Sunday 10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.

Native Horsemanship Center – Yvette will be on site Saturday and Sunday for phony rides, she provides helmets and a support staff for each rider.

Nonprofit Booths

American Red Cross

The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

Activity:

First Aid demonstrations: talk with an instructor and learn what you are prepared for.  Preparedness Color Books available while supplies last.

 

Boys & Girls Club of the Olympic Peninsula

To enable all children, especially those that need us most, to reach their full potential as responsible, caring, productive citizens.

Activity:

Bees wax candle making, Teen Club bath salts. Exclusive vendor of Casey’s Kettle Corn

 

Building Futures (Clallam Co Family YMCA)

A school based mentoring program that matches local students with caring and supporting adult mentors. It is our goal that with a positive influence in their lives these children will learn trust and self confidence and will be better prepared to succeed in the future.

Activity:

Face Painting and a simple craft.

Feiro Marine Science Center

Hands on marine life interpretive center.

Activity: “Fish on the Fence” links art and science with painting of fish which are then display on the chain link fence surrounding the Landing Mall.

Girl Scouts of Western Washington

Girl Scouts of Western Washington serves more than 27,000 girls ages 5-17 in Western Washington. Girls participate in age-based programs as part of a troop providing girls the opportunity to develop leadership skills and travel.

Activity:

Supplies provided to and teach participants how to make friendship bracelets as well as having handmade crafts luggage tags available for sale.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a true world leader in addressing the issues of poverty housing.

Activity:

Hands on activities and raffle tickets to win a HABIT-TOT playhouse.

Life Outreach International

Life Outreach International is reaching out to help people have clean water by drilling wells across the globe.

Activity:

Needle in a haystack, you can find straws hidden in the hay with prizes listed on them.

New Dungeness Light Station

The New Dungeness Light Station opened in 1857 and is one of the oldest lighthouses in the Northwest. It is located at the tip of the Dungeness Spit in Sequim. The Light Station maintained and operated by the New Dungeness Lighthouse Station Association, which aims to preserve and restore the site.

Activity:

Hands on educational challenges for all ages.  Guess how tall the Light House is?  Do you know the history behind the New Dungeness Light Station?  Come by to learn more.

Native Horsemanship Riding Center

Bringing the healing power of horses to low-income, at-risk, special needs, and able bodied youth, as they learn the gentleNative American way ofhandling and bonding with horses to achieve oneness of mind,body, and spirit.

Activity:

Horses rides will be given on the field 10A.M.-2 P.M. at a cost of $10

Old Dominion University

Port Hadlock Site of Old Dominion University offers Bachelor, Master, and PhD. programs to the surrounding community.

Activity:

Decorate a flower pot and take it home with a packet of seeds and/or make a pencil holder.

Olympic National Park

Caring for special places saved by the American people so that all may experience our heritage.

Activity:

Glines Canyon Dam-Elwha River Model. Kids can get the hands wet as they lean and explore what will happen to the sediment when the Glines Canyon Dam is removed.

Relay for Life Teams

Relay for life is a signature American Cancer Society, 24 hr walk-a-thon, where teams are formed to promote awareness and support for cancer survivors and remember loved ones. This year’s relay for life will be held from 24 hours from Noon –Noon, August 14th & 15th at the Sequim High school track.

Activity:

An all ages bean bag toss competition where participants will receive prizes.  Luminary bags will also be for sale as a fundraiser.

Sequim High School FFA

Primarily operating as an extension of the Washington FFAAssociation, the Washington FFAFoundation both develops and invests funds for the future of the Agriculture Industry through educational avenues.

Activity:

Students organize and staff this area. While enjoying the live stock exhibit you can get a snack. They will be selling sno-cones, salmon jerky, and nachos. Proceeds will fund their programs such as the green house, exhibit at the County Fair, and field trips.

Sequim Police Dept.

The men and women of the Sequim Police Department are committed to providing ‘Personal Attention to Our Community’ using community policing as the back bone for our service delivery.

Activity:

Special Needs Advocacy Parents ( SNAP)

The SNAP vision is to empower families, care providers and advocates to support individuals with developmental disabilities in their local community through ongoing communication and teamwork. A variety of different programs, resources and activities are established to help assist many individuals achieve SNAP’s vision.  

Activity: Rock painting. Also known as Sequim potatoes, SNAP will lead the artful rock painting activity called “A home for every rock and a rock for every home.”

U. S. Customs and Border Protection

U. S. Customs and Border Protection is one of the Department of Homeland Security’s largest and most complex components, with a priority mission of keeping terrorists and their weapons out of the United States. Customs and Border Protection protects our nation’s borders from terrorism, human and drug smuggling, illegal migration, and agricultural pests while simultaneously facilitating the flow of legitimate travel and trade.

We're committed to improving the lives of veterans and service personnel, their families, and the communities in which they live and work. People will be there to help people to learn what is available to veterans in the area.

Activity:

Learn Flag etiquette, patriotic book marks and flags
