Interesting Note about the John Wayne Marina:   John Wayne Marina, featured in the June 2003 issue of SEA Magazine as “Best of the West” for small marinas, was constructed in 1985 on 22 acres of land donated by the John Wayne family. John Wayne frequented Sequim Bay waters aboard the family yacht – the “Wild Goose” – and prior to his death envisioned a marina in the scenic bay. Eventually, this vision became reality under the ownership and auspices of the Port of Port Angeles.

Olympic Theater Arts

7:30 on July 17th and 18th at the Sequim High School Performing Arts Center (near the street fair).

Greater Tuna is the hilarious comedy about Texas' third smallest town, where the Lion's Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies.

The eclectic band of citizens that make up this town are portrayed by only two performers, making this satire on life in rural America even more delightful as they depict all of the inhabitants of Tuna -- men, women, children and animals.

The early tour dates found an instant audience coast to coast as the show played to packed houses in San Francisco, Atlanta, Houston and Hartford before original stars Joe Sears and Jaston Williams found themselves performing Greater Tuna for over a year Off-Broadway at Circle in the Square Theatre.

This successful New York run lead to an HBO Special produced by Norman Lear which took the "Tuna" phenomenon to every city in America.

Lavender celebration Tour of Wineries In the Olympic Wine Country

Saturday, July 11 – Sunday, July 19, 11-5 p.m.
Enjoy the Sequim lavender fields in bloom and enhance your visit as you discover new hidden gems - six award winning artisan wineries on the scenic North Olympic Peninsula. Explore more hidden back roads and lush valleys as you discover some of the finest small family run wineries in Washington State. Since most produce less than 2,000 cases of wine a year, many of the wines are in very limited production and are challenging to find outside of the communities where they are made. Indulge in the pleasure of sharing these rare wines of Washington State with your friends and family.

It is easy to add this self guided wine tour to your Lavender Festival experience. You can visit the wineries in any order, over a ten-day period. Visit as many or as few as you wish or purchase an optional Lavender Celebration Tour of Wineries ticket and the commemorative wine glass and receive complimentary wine tasting at each winery.

Visit all six wineries and enter the drawing for a beautiful gift basket of local lavender products. Each winery is unique from location to ambiance of tasting room and style of wines. Winemakers will offer special pricing on featured wines.

You can also taste our local wines at the Wine & Beer Garden at the Street Fair in Sequim during the Lavender Festival, which can be found at the end of the food court, close to the performance stage. A selection of two wines from each winery will be available for tasting, by the glass or to purchase by the bottle.

We look forward to sharing our wines… Olympic Peninsula Wineries
